You program the car, not the fob; but yes any Mazda 3 compatible fob (same signal, same frequency) can be programmed and should work immediately after programming. (I had a fob from my '04 left over that I programmed onto my '08)

Apr 24, 2004 · Yeah, they embedded the key in the dash for the remote start. I don't know if they used the whole key or just part of it, but I'm out 1 key. I bet if I got an unprogrammed key from the dealer, I could use it in conjuction with the remote start b/c I don't have to actually engage the engine with the remote start (i.e. I just have to turn it to "on")

Dec 24, 2010 · First battery died at 300 miles, 2nd died at 16K miles. Also have gone through 3 key fob batteries. Problem is poor design of key fob. Carry it in my front pants pocket and if pressure is put on it while lounging at home, the trunk unlocks in the garage and kills the battery. If happens too many times, car battery needs replacement.

If you get a replacement fob make sure the remotes have the same FCC and Visteon numbers. Also you can check the circuit board and make sure that it is getting 3V from the battery with a multimeter.

The only way I've successfully gotten that to stop in the past was with the remote, but I tried the tricks in the manual and called the Mazda dealership to see if they had any other ideas. So a lot of the time (but not all the time) when I turn off the car I get a "key fob battery low" message come up.

Jul 2, 2013 · I have a 2008 Mazda 3 and both key fobs ONLY unlocks the driver's door and not the other three. The switch on the door locks and unlocks all the doors so I think there is no wiring issue nor a solenoid issue. Both Fobs are original to the car. Ny suggestions?
