A man shot by police officers while allegedly wielding a knife in the Bronx on Sunday had initially called 911 to report a robbery in progress, according to the NYPD.

Police say the victim was the operator of a white van. They believe the shooting was the result of a dispute with another driver.

Police described the suspect in the teenager's death as “a career criminal” with a history of violence and mental health problems.
