If you don't pay your New York State Thruway tolls, you may be barred from driving on it. Here's what you should know.

WTEN reports a new regulation adopted by the NYS Thruway Authority allows the agency to “exclude” people from driving on the state’s 570-mile Thruway system, temporarily or permanently, if tolls are not paid. The measure aims to recoup an estimated $40 million in unpaid tolls from 2023.

The loss is particularly problematic because tolls and related fees make up more than 90% of the Thruway Authority’s total revenue each year.
