Georgia Power said it has been receiving reports of digital ads and Google results leading customers looking to pay their bills to fake websites

Georgia Power is encouraging customers to beware of scams in 2025. They are telling individuals to be aware of those threatening power disconnection “unless immediate payment is made” and attempts to have customers “update their billing information” to steal personal information.

Georgia Power is warning its customers to be weary of scams in the new year. “Scams of various types often increase around the holidays and during the first of the year as post-holiday bills begin to arrive and as tax season approaches,” the company said.
