A few months ago, it was confirmed that famed composer Hans Zimmer won't be eligible in the Best Original Score category due to the sequel's soundtrack sharing too much music with the first film. The Academy dictates that a sequel can't use more than 20% of a past entry's music in its score and still be eligible in the category.

Not along ago it was revealed that Hans Zimmer's score for Dune Part 2 has been disqualified for upcoming Oscars 2025. Now the film's director Denis Villeneuve has expressed his displeasure over Academy Awards decision to deem the film's score ineligible.

With the Golden Globes having taken place last night awards season is now in full siwngand while Dune: Part Two didn’t take home any trophies at the 2025 Golden Globes, it’s still considered one of the best movies of the year.
