British power generator and network operator SSE's CEO Alistair Phillips-Davies will retire next year after more than a decade in the job, the company said on Wednesday, as it also posted a 26% jump in half-year profit.

Alistair Phillips-Davies has announced his intention to stand down as CEO of SSE next year after more than 11 years of leading the UK power group. SSE said Phillips-Davies had decided to "retire" from his position, but will remain in place until a successor is appointed in order "to ensure a smooth and orderly transition".

British power generator and network operator SSE Plc on Wednesday reported a 26.4% jump in half-year profit, buoyed by strength in its electricity networks and renewables businesses. The company said Phillips-Davies - its CEO of more than 11 years - will retire in 2025.

SSE, which did not name a successor, made the announcement as it reported a 26 per cent increase in half-year profit, citing strength in its renewables business.
