Thorpe's Organic Family Farm has many animals on the 80-acre property, but they never thought they'd lose seven, 1,000-lb black angus beef cattle.

In a pasture surrounded by curious cows, Cherokee Nation citizen Barbara Sparks recalls how her budding beef business began.

She lived with her mom and dad along with her two brothers; together, they ran a Black Angus Cattle Ranch. “I have two brothers, Cleveland, myself, and Maverick. I’m the only girl,” she said.
