European wind power stocks fell on Wednesday after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said he would try to ensure that "no windmills" are built on his watch, criticising the sector less than two weeks before he is due to take office.

Vestas Wind (OTCPK:VWDRY) plunges more than 6% in European trading Wednesday after President-elect Trump lashed out against windmills, vowing to erect no new windmills in the U.S. after taking office.

Wind energy is one of the fastest growing and cheapest forms of electricity in the United States. The president-elect calls it “garbage.”

Massachusetts is relying heavily on the potential of offshore wind power generation to reduce carbon emissions as required by state law, but it's been mostly choppy waters for the sector recently.
