Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Saturday reviewed the security measures taken at Anna University in Chennai following the recent case of alleged sexual assault of a student inside the campus.

BJP leader Annamalai protested against the Tamil Nadu government by whipping himself, citing ongoing injustices. He vowed to fast for 48 days and not wear footwear until the ruling party is removed.

Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai condemned the act of publicising the details of the identity of the victim through the FIR.

The accused entered the campus and sexually assaulted the second-year student behind a building after thrashing a male student, who was accompanying her.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the sexual assault of a 19-year-old Anna University student in Chennai, the National Commission for Women condemned the attack. The commission also highlighted police negligence and directed action for stricter punishment and protection for the victim.
