The skies could grow dark Thursday afternoon in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin as a cold front moves through and brings a threat for explosive severe storms. A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for the majority of Western Wisconsin until 10pm. Any storms should be moving away from the area after this time frame, leading to a quieter overnight with areas of fog into early Friday morning.

Scattered showers and storms are making their way into the Kansas City metro Thursday morning as the National Weather Service monitors stronger storms later in the day. The morning storms will not be severe, but are expected to produce scattered showers across eastern Kansas and Western Missouri, the weather service said on X.
