Peanut the Squirrel, a beloved pet who was an internet sensation before being euthanized by New York officials was earmarked to be killed a week before officials say it bit a person during a raid.
Results show that Peanut the squirrel tested negative for rabies
On Oct. 30 both Peanut and Fred were confiscated by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, and later both animals were euthanized in order to be tested for rabies. Both animals tested negative for the disease.
The results are in: Peanut the Squirrel did not have rabies, county official says
Chemung County Executive Christopher Moss confirmed that the rabies results for Peanut and Fred came back negative.
