Residual moisture from a now post-tropical Rafael is expected to cause a cold front in the Gulf of Mexico and across southeastern Louisiana later this week, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

The forecast cone no longer includes Louisiana. Local impacts will be primarily coastal flooding, winds and heavy rainfall from the system’s outer bands, the National Weather Service said.

Louisianans should watch Hurricane Rafael's progress in the Gulf of Mexico, but forecasters with the National Weather Service in New Orleans say the storm doesn't pose a threat to the Bayou State on its current path.
