Amazon.com is launching an new section to its app and website focused on items that cost $20 or less as the internet retailer looks to fend off rising competition from low-cost platforms Temu and Shein.

Amazon is making a strategic move into the ultra-low-cost space as holiday spending kicks into high gear. But price isn't the only reason why US shoppers are addicted to Temu.

Amazon's Haul feels like a cheaper, crummier version of the cheap and crummy Temu. That might change, but for now, I was disappointed.
