OG Anunoby scored 24 points and the New York Knicks spoiled 76ers star Joel Embiid’s season debut, beating Philadelphia 111-99 in the opener of NBA Cup group play for both teams.

Midway through the fourth quarter, with the Knicks leading 89-77, Paul George had possession of the ball and appeared to be gearing up to score. Embiid tried to set a screen for his new teammate, but instead of stopping the Knicks defenders, it was George whom he prevented from doing anything after they crashed to each other.

Joel Embiid returned to a rousing ovation from 76ers fans in his first game of the season, a start marred by injuries and suspension to the All-Star center that kept Philadelphia anchored at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

The NBA Cup, previously called the In-Season Tournament, gets started on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and one of the matchups on the first night of NBA Cup games sees the New York Knicks visiting the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

As one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, the Knicks have sputtered out of the gate to a 5-5 record. New acquisition Karl-Anthony Towns leads the team with 24.5 points and 12.4 rebounds per game, forming a dynamic duo with point guard Jalen Brunson (24.3 points per game).

The undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the Emirates NBA Cup today – Wednesday, Nov. 13 – at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game is available to watch on multiple streaming services for free.
