A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for wind gusts that will climb upwards of 40 MPH with our next round of rain.

Monday is now a First Alert Weather Day due to high confidence in wind chills, or feels-like temperatures, falling below 20º F.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Alert Weather Team says there’s a cold weather advisory tonight. Here’s what you can expect: Rain is moving out while the cold air quickly moves in this evening – bundle up and stay bundled up for the rest of the week!

Farther to the south, where the rain will dominate Monday morning, the snow/ice you do get will slush out and melt significantly before that finishing light snow returns later Monday. The roads will still have slick spots on them, perhaps even through Tuesday.

The 19 First Alert Weather team has declared a 19 First Alert Weather Day on Monday and will continue to update on the latest forecast. Cold air remains locked in for the rest of the upcoming week with high temperatures in the 20s and low temperatures eventually falling to the teens.

Severe storms are expected anywhere between 11am-11pm with the bulk of the system moving through between 2pm-7pm.

Sunday morning started well above average in the upper 60s, but as the arctic front moved through, temperatures quickly crashed nearly 20 degrees in an hour. Northwesterly winds gusting around 40 mph made it feel even colder outside.

The threats are Strong winds up to 60-70 mph, large hail up to golf ball size, and Tornados, which will likely be an issue in the afternoon.

Clouds will thicken ahead of a dynamic storm in the Mid-Mississippi Valley that is bringing a wide swath of snow and ice from the central Plains to the Ohio Valley and severe storms in the Southern states.

An Arctic front brings bitterly cold wind chills in the teens; another potent system ushers in the risk of wintry precipitation for Thursday and Friday.
