A former FEMA employee fired for instructing subordinates to avoid visiting Florida homes displaying Trump signs says the agency is scapegoating her for its own policy.

Attorney General Ashley Moody has taken legal action following reports that FEMA workers denied aid to Florida hurricane victims who displayed signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in the Southern District of Florida, Moody said Marn’i Washington, a former supervisor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told relief workers assisting the victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton to avoid homes “advertising Trump.”
