British power generator and network operator SSE's CEO Alistair Phillips-Davies will retire next year after more than a decade in the job, the company said on Wednesday, as it also posted a 26% jump in half-year profit.

SSE, which did not name a successor, made the announcement as it reported a 26 per cent increase in half-year profit, citing strength in its renewables business.
