American Freight, a chain of furniture stores operating in dozens of states, is permanently closing all 328 locations due to struggles with sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges, according to its parent company.

Suburban Columbus-based Franchise Group has opted to shut down its American Freight discount furniture retail chain as a way to alleviate its debt challenges in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.

Franchise Group Inc., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Nov. 3, says it will close all its American Freight furniture stores, including three in Jacksonville.
