The most important task for the Boston Red Sox this upcoming offseason certainly will be adding another pitcher toward the top of the starting rotation. Boston has proven this season that it should be among the top contenders in the American League next year with a strong offseason.

Tanner Houck is “feeling better” after not recovering as well from his last start and “still in line to pitch” Friday against the Yankees in New York. But the Red Sox seem to already have a contingency plan in place if Houck isn’t feeling strong enough to pitch.

It took 143 games, but the Yankees are finally putting their most talented players on the field. The Yankees called up top prospect Jasson Domínguez on Monday, three days after GM Brian Cashman threw his support behind Alex Verdugo and said the veteran gives them the best chance to win.
