DAYTON — Warming centers have opened up across Dayton amid freezing temperatures and accumulating snow. The three facilities are scheduled to be open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Counites under the advisory, including Cook and DuPage counties, can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow with higher amounts of up to 5 inches possible, especially in Lake County, Illinois. High temperatures will be in the 20s with lows in the teens.

A band of lake effect snow is expected to develop after 8 p.m. Sunday and remain in place into Monday morning's commute, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to fall to the single digits on Wednesday.
