Police say three people were shot late Sunday night along University City Boulevard in Charlotte, and one of the victims was killed.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide in northeast Charlotte. The investigation is taking place in the 8200 block of Dave McKinney Avenue. This is the second University City homicide in less than 24 hours and the fourth homicide in 36 hours.

A late night 911 call revealed three people had been hit by gunfire along a busy stretch of University City Boulevard, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. The identity of the male who died has not been released.
