The Dolphins are waiving former Pro Bowl edge rusher Shaq Barrett from the reserve/retired list Thursday, his agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barrett, 32, can play again this season if he clears waivers Friday.

Barrett, 32, began his career with the Denver Broncos, tallying 14 sacks in four seasons with the team. He eclipsed that total with a league-leading 19.5 sacks in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In five seasons with Tampa Bay, he recorded 45 sacks.

The Dolphins on Thursday, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus, are waiving Barrett, the 32-year-old defender who signed with the team in March, retired in July and wanted to return from retirement in November.
