A tropical system in the Caribbean Sea could develop as it moves northward into the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center says.

A tropical depression could form next week as an area of low pressure in the Caribbean moves toward the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center said Friday.

We remain over the peak portion of hurricane season where we see the most activity on average and fittingly, the National Hurricane Center is watching three areas for potential tropical development over the next seven days.
