As part of its longstanding efforts to encourage users to repair their electronic devices and other items, iFixit is announcing FixHub, a

IFixit announced a USB-C "smart" soldering iron for precision work away from the mains, and a cellphone-sized 100W battery/control box to go with it. Together, they're the Fixhub, but the iron will work from any USB-C power source that provides at least 35W (65W is recommended).

Fixit, one of the champions of the Right to Repair movement, says the new FixHub comprises a 100W USB-C soldering iron capable of hitting the optimal soldering temperature in under five seconds. It also has a dedicated power station and a set of associated precision tools for accurate soldering (also available separately) that will start shipping on October 15.
