As the year-end holiday season continues, storm systems are sweeping across the U.S., bringing severe weather that threatens to disrupt travel, particularly in the Pacific Northwest and along the East Coast.

Mild weather on Christmas Day will bring very few chances of snow across the country. The best spots for a white Christmas with fresh snow will be across the Rocky Mountains. Rain is expected to continue in portions of the South, while the West will get a brief reprieve during the day before another atmospheric river streams inland.

On Christmas Day, expect a cloudy start with patchy fog developing in the afternoon as rain chances increase. Showers are likely, especially during the late morning and afternoon hours, with isolated thunderstorms possible.
