According to latest reports, Sony's next PS6 console will feature an AMD chip with backwards compatibility and not an Intel chipset.

Reuters is reporting that AMD landed the contract to provide the chip for the PS6, after a bidding process took place against Broadcom and Intel in 2022. Ultimately, the report suggests that it was the fact that AMD created the chipset for PS5 and PS5 Pro that was the crucial point for Sony deciding to go with AMD for the PS6 chipset.

The PS6 is in development with an emphasis on backwards compatibility, according to a fresh report by Reuters. We certainly weren’t expecting to see an unofficial announcement this morning, complete with details of a chip manufacturing bidding war for the console that took place between Intel and AMD.
