Israeli warplanes launched a new wave of airstrikes in Yemen on Thursday amid rising regional tensions over Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, Israeli media said. The new strikes targeted several sites at Sanaa airport and the port of Al-Hudaydah in western Yemen, the Israeli public broadcaster KAN said.

The IDF said that the plan of the airstrike was approved by the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and the Chief of the General Staff of Israel.

"Israeli airstrikes today on Sana'a International Airport, the Red Sea ports, and power stations in Yemen are especially alarming," the UN chief spokesperson said in a press brief

The head of the World Health Organization said he was about to board a flight in the Yemeni capital when the airport came under bombardment.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that the Israeli Air Force had struck Houthi targets in Yemen.
