Slayton, and named for him. Slayton is in central Murray County and is surrounded by Slayton Township, a separate municipality. U.S. Highway 59 and Minnesota State Highway 30 are the main routes in the city. US 59 leads north 36 miles to Marshall and south 30 miles to Worthington. MN 30 joins US 59 to the north out of town but turns off toward Westbrook, 22 miles east of Slayton; to the west, MN 30 leads 28 miles to Pipestone.
